I find the Firelands Winery of Sandusky Ohio closed. Why do they call it the Firelands around Cedar Point anyways. Did fire overtake the countryside sometime in the past?

I've known about this winery for a while, and I was rushing to see my
daughter march at Cedar Point, so stopping for a tasting in the early
afternoon made no sense. I'm not one to show up within smelling
distance of my daughter reeking of cigarette smoke nor breathing of
alcohol. Alas, but the time I grew tired of the park, Firelands Winery
had closed for a night. I still haven't made it back to this Lake Erie
winery but at least I know exactly where to drive next time I'm on the
turnpike. A group of Americans suffered losses when their farms and
homes were burned during the Revolutionary War. To make it up to them,
the State of Connecticut, which reached all the way to the Ohio,
granted them lands in the Sandusky, Ohio area.
